ARTHUR’S LOCKUP SERIES 1 – THEN & NOW

POPLAR MEWS off UXBRIDGE ROAD/SHEPHERD’S BUSH MARKET STATION, W12

We first see Arthur’s lockup in #1.9 Monday Night Fever, located directly under a railway line between Shepherd’s Bush Market and Wood Lane. The shot below shows Arthur & Terry turning off Uxbridge Road into Poplar Mews, with the railway line on their left.

As Arthur and Terry approach the lockup, the railway line is on the right. This is the other side of the railway line from the shots above in the area directly behind Frithville Gardens, the warehouse clearly visible in both shots.

DOOR 4, REAR OF BLYTHE HOUSE, BLYTHE ROAD, HAMMERSMITH, W14

In series 2 the lockup is at the rear of Blythe House in Hammersmith. Here many other episodes of Minder were also filmed in series 1 and 2.

The first shot here is taken from #2.6 Not A Bad Lad, Dad where Arthur asks Terry to load some water-damaged umbrellas into the back of the transit.

KENSAL ROAD, W10

Although Arthur’s lockup was situated here for three series, we rarely get a glimpse of the street it is on. The first three matching shots here are from #5.1 Goodbye Sailor.

In this episode, Arthur gets a delivery of dodgy trainers and you can clearly see a postbox on the wall outside, the only remaining feature.
