ARTHUR’S CAR LOT 1 – THEN & NOW

This is the car lot that features in the opening titles of each episode. Sadly, since 1988 the car lot itself where Terry & Arthur shake hands has two houses built on top of it.

Notice the tree behind Arthur in the shot below – the exact position where Arthur is standing today is where the house wall is now situated.

The more recent picture below on the right shows the two houses now built on the car lot. This area of Hammersmith features throughout the first five series.

In series 7 and 8 the car lot was now in Acton, the only location surviving the switch from Terry McCann to Ray Daley. The first picture on the left is from #7.6 The Wrong Goodbye.

The picture below on the left is taken from #8.1 The Loneliness of The Long Distance Entrepreneur, the very first episode of The Ray Daley Years.

The picture below on the left is taken from #8.6 The Last Temptation Of Daley. The picture on the right is a recent shot and in 2012 was the home of the company MPR Motors.

In the final two series Arthur’s car lot had moved around the corner to Churchfield Road. A block of flats has now been built on this site.

The second shot on the left is from #10.7 The Great Depression of 1994, with a view along Churchfield Road.
